What it is like being a Dentist in Kitsilano

Kitsilano is a great place to work and live as a dentist. The small stores all along west 4th avenue are all great places to shop and the restaurants always have friendly staff. When the office is busy and I need to grab a quick lunch, Whole Foods and Safeway are close with a wide selection of choices. For extended lunches Burgoo Bistro and Connie’s Cookhouse are some of my favorite places to sit down for a bite to eat when I can. On a sunny day, Kits Beach is a great place to enjoy a break from work and the best beach in Vancouver. Kitsilano Barbers is my place of choice when it comes to getting a haircut as the staff there are wonderful. Kerrisdale Dry Cleaners(in Kitsilano) always do a great job with great service for your dry-cleaning and alteration needs.

Kitsilano is a great community of merchants and residents. The demographic of the people living in the area is also quite diverse: from the student who go to UBC, the young urban professionals living in single small apartments, families living in some of the nicest homes in the city, and seniors who continue to keep the heritage of the area – they all choose to live in Kits because is it one of the best neighborhoods in the city. I consider myself fortunate to be part of this community not just as a business owner but as a resident also.

This rave review is long over-due. I went to Dr. Alex Rosenczweig as a new patient with a very broken molar that needed immediate extracting. Not only did he and his secretary find time to fit me in right away, but they were sure to acquire all the background information from my previous dentist – hassle free to me, I might add. My procedure was quick, in and out, any discomfort was really well managed, and I paid WAY less then other offices were quoting me at. Dr. Rosenczweig and his secretary followed up with my via phone calls and appointments multiple times to see how I was doing after. It has been nothing but a relief to have this whole molar taken care of, and the 'dreaded' ordeal of it became stress free because of the experience I had. I am so grateful!

Dr. Alex R. is indeed a very nice person. However he gave me the most painful cleaning I've ever had in 10 years. Yes everyone has a different pain tolerance but this comment is in comparison to my own other experiences with other hygienists where I had no pain. He also mentioned cavities to take care of. I've been to another dentist since then and this second dentist said everything was okay, nothing to do. He's probably okay but he does not deserve 5 stars.

A very knowledgeable and professional dentist! Trains students at UBC how to do root canals, so must be pretty good at his job. Also very accommodating when it comes to emergencies.

I went to see Dr. Alex for a dental check-up and cleaning and had a very negative experience. I'm quite surprised to see such positive reviews after my visit. It was extremely painful, Dr. Alex gave me a pain scale to indicate when he should stop (5 or above) and when I requested I felt like my pain was minimized and the level of pain continued with my input pretty well disregarded. I was recommended for braces, possible jaw surgery and replacement of most of my fillings. I visited another dentist afterwards (I would never go see Dr. Alex again and requested my X-rays and information be transferred) who was surprised about these recommendations and found them completely unnecessary. I found his manner to be uncaring and uninterested in my comfort or experience. I left holding back tears, in significant pain and would never recommend this dentistry office to family or friends (not even someone I dislike!). I was charged 10% (I think this is the correct number) on top of the provincially set fees for the work done, and it was explained that it is because of higher rent in Kitsilano. It looks from the reviews that other people have had different experiences, which I hope is true. It was a truly awful dentistry experience from start to finish which was really disappointing.
